No Finish is the Best Finish.
At Revolution Performance Fabrics, we intentionally do not apply topical water-repellent or soil-repellent finishes to our fabrics. That decision is foundational to how our products perform long-term.

Most outdoor fabrics on the market rely on a surface-applied chemical finish to create water beading and initial stain resistance. While that can look impressive at first, those finishes come with trade-offs:
Finishes wear off
Repellent coatings degrade from UV exposure, abrasion, washing, and everyday use. Once the finish breaks down, performance drops — and the fabric often becomes harder to maintain than before.
They interfere with cleanability
As finishes age, they can:
We’ve found over years of real-world use that heavy finish systems can actually make deep cleaning more difficult.
Instead of relying on chemistry applied to the surface, we engineer performance at the fiber and construction level.
This is why we say:
“No finish is the best finish.”
It’s not a slogan — it’s a durability philosophy.
Revolution is built around finish-free performance because we prioritize how the fabric behaves after years of sun, spills, kids, pets, and real outdoor living — not just how it performs on day one in a lab demo.
If a product is labelled "stain-resistant" or "water-proof" it most likely contains PFAS Chemicals. When buying these products, first look for labelling that says PFAS-FREE. When in doubt, contact the manufacturer and ask them if their products contain PFAS or PFC Forever Chemicals. Revolution Fabrics recognized the harmful effects of these chemicals and eliminated using them in our manufacturing process over 20 years ago.
