The lab at STI performs a wide range of tests on fabrics. AHFA provides the test methods and specifications for fabrics. The dynamic seam fatigue tester determines the strength of upholstery seam constructions covering a foam cushion. The stresses at the seam are created by imposing a cyclic, impact, and penetrating load. Upholstery seams are tested warp sewn to warp, filling sewn to filling, and warp sewn to filling. A pass is considered if the opening at the seam is 3mm or less. Watch video to see full test procedure!
