Evolution of the houndstooth

Posted by on

Houndstooth patterns never completely go away, they are a classic. At the moment, they are trending again in apparel and home furnishings. The classic houndstooth is created with color and weave. My first introduction was my sophomore year in college. It was amazing to see the figure come to life with the right placement of color and weave. I’ve always thought it looks like little creatures holding hands. My professor was a stickler for making it right, so I am always in judgement when I see one. Did they do it right? Well in my therapy, I’ve confronted my obsession for perfection.

I have recently created a new pattern, Warble, that could be called an “evolved houndstooth”. It pays homage to the original, but is distinctly different. A toast to the houndstooth… may it continue to evolve and stay the same! I think I see a multi color version next!!!
